At our studio, gradings are an important part of the pole and aerial journey. They’re not just about ticking off skills, they’re about recognising growth, building confidence, and making sure every student progresses safely and successfully from beginner through to elite.
Gradings serve several important purposes:
• Measure your progress
Gradings give you the opportunity to see how much you’ve achieved since starting. It’s easy to forget how far you’ve come, but when you prepare for and complete a grading, you’re able to look back and celebrate the skills and strength you’ve built.
• Build confidence
Showcasing your moves in a grading environment is a safe way to challenge yourself. It helps you develop performance confidence, overcome nerves, and recognise your own abilities.
• Set clear goals
Each level has a structured syllabus of skills. By working toward your grading, you always know what you’re aiming for and what’s coming next. This keeps your training purposeful and gives you short-term wins on the way to long-term achievements.
• Ensure safety and readiness
Gradings allow instructors to confirm that you have the necessary strength, technique, and control before moving up. This makes sure that every student is set up for success and can train with confidence.
In order to pass a graded trick or combo – it must be performed safely, is demonstrated with smooth/clean transitions, has good knowledge of the trick/s and has showed consistency
• Celebrate achievement
Passing a grading is a milestone in your journey. It represents dedication, resilience, and growth. We encourage all students to take pride in these moments, they’re proof of your hard work and commitment.
• Transfer gradings from other studios
If you’ve trained elsewhere before joining us, transfer gradings are important so we can assess your current level accurately. Different studios may have slightly different progressions, terminology, or techniques. By completing a transfer grading, we make sure you’re placed in the right class for your ability. This not only keeps you safe but also ensures you’re challenged appropriately and don’t miss any key foundations.
• Your journey is unique
Everyone progresses at their own pace. There is no rush, and gradings are designed to support your individual growth, not compare you to others. Whether you take longer to master certain skills or advance quickly, the most important thing is steady, safe progress and enjoying the process.
Whether you are just starting out in beginners or pushing yourself at the elite level, gradings create a clear pathway through your training. They are about celebrating progress, keeping your journey structured, and ensuring you always feel supported, safe, and inspired as you level up. 🩷🫶🏼🩷
