I started at Pole Divas Mornington 10 years ago, doing a term here and there just for fun. I became dedicated to pole about 6 years ago, but my progression was slow, and sometimes it felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. I was attending just one class a week, and another diva suggested trying lyra as well, to help build my strength. I was hesitant at first, and wasn’t sure it was really for me, but I wanted to progress further so I decided to give it a go. I walked in and felt like I’d joined the circus; I fell in love after just one class!!
Six and a half years on and lyra has helped me become stronger, both physically and mentally (overcoming my fear of heights with every new trick that I learn). I’ve always tried to avoid other types of exercise at all costs, making up excuses as to why I couldn’t do it. I was unfit and unmotivated. But with divas, I want to get stronger, I want to become more flexible, I want to try harder – because I’m determined to nail each of the incredible tricks and combos that they teach us. Divas has made exercise fun! Before I knew it, my body had started to transform. I noticed weight loss, more defined muscles, and a new frame of mind; which only helped me become more motivated and dedicated (some might say I’m addicted). I’m now at the studio every chance I get, and I wouldn’t have it any other way… I wish I’d started lyra sooner!
