Want to stand out from the crowd and give yourself the best opportunity to get to the Northcote Theatre in 2026? I spoke to Kennetta, the founder of Pole Divas and Frisk. Kennetta has been running Pole Comps since 2004, and she knows a standout routine when she sees it. Find out what she’s looking for and give yourself a leg up on the competition.

HOT TIP – Frisk is incredibly competitive to get into; we highly encourage you to follow the guidelines below to the letter to give yourself the best opportunity to perform at Frisk.

SUBMITTING A PREVIOUS ROUTINE?

  1. The film must be less than 12 months old.
  2. The video should reflect the style of competition. Remember, it’s Frisk, we want to see your interpretation of a Frisky, sexy routine. If you aren’t filming specifically for the comp, make sure your video reflects the style.

PREPARING YOUR AUDITION PIECE

  1. This is probably the best tip we can give: grab our attention EARLY! Think about how to make an impression quickly so that we KEEP WATCHING.
  2. Frisk is a 1 pole competition so keep this in mind when preparing your audition. We want to see how you move around a single pole and use the stage.
  3. Costumes – do not film in your regular training outfit; make an effort, think sparkles, glitz, lingerie, sexy, flirty vibes. We don’t expect a full costume, but we do expect you to have gone to some effort.
  4. Hair and Make Up – it makes a difference! Put your best foot forward.
  5. Your audition should be a reflection of the judging criteria.
  6. Your entry doesn’t have to be the show you will perform if you get in, BUT we do love seeing the concept you plan to bring to the show, where possible.
  7. If you’re audition is NOT the show you plan to perform, you will need to tell us your proposed concept and idea for Frisk 2026 at the time of entry.

SETTING UP THE SPACE FOR YOUR AUDITION

  1. Ensure you are filming in an empty studio; you should be the only person in your film. Do not film during an open practice session.
  2. LIGHTING! We have to be able to see you clearly. We want to see your face and facial expression, and if you film in a dark room, we cannot connect with you!
  3. Centre your film and avoid having anything obstruct our view of you. We should see all of you at all times, make sure you are not cut off when you go up high on the pole or come down to the floor. If you cannot achieve this through setting your camera up on a tripod, then please get someone to film you so they can move with you.

THE VIDEO

  1. Film and upload your video at the highest possible quality.
  2. Your video MUST be one take. You cannot cut multiple videos together.
  3. Sound quality – make sure we can clearly hear your music. It is fine to dub your music over the video. This is the only editing to the video we allow. Reminder to check our music guidelines here
  4. ALWAYS film in landscape mode. We will be watching your entry on a big screen TV. Videos in portrait mode do not come across well.
  5. Minimum length for video entries is 2 minutes, and max is 2.5 minutes

If you have any further questions on the video entry process, please don’t hesitate to contact us comps@poledivas.com.au
